I am happy as a fly in a spider web...mhmm. So yeah it came and went...once again feeling nauseated and no my nausea medicine doesn't work so I just resort to my own methods. Hot tea, pizza, chinese food, nothing italian, cold cereal, no steamed vegetables, I can tolerate broccoli, stuff with ginger in it, and lots of water especially the day of and a few days after....it tends to get the toxins out of my body faster and I tend to feel less nausea for the rest of the two week period in between my treatments. Being online and being able to talk to ppl definately gets my mind off of things and distracts me when the nurses are sticking me like a pin cushion. Today was by far the worst. They stuck me 5 times before they actually managed to get a good vein. I was told that if they couldn't stick me that they would have to put a port in. A port is well...*looks up a good definition*...
port
This is an implated access device which allows professional carers to draw blood and make intravenous (or intra-arterial) injections into a patient in an easier way without having to locate and insert a canulla into a new vessel. Some ports are connected for intrathecal, intraperitoneal or intracavitary injections. These devices are expensive and are not free of problems, they should not be implated without good indications. Normally implantation is performed by a surgeon with experience in this technique, in a operational theatre under local anaesthetic.
So yeah I would have had to go through a surgical procedure in order for them to insert this into my body. Anyway the downside to this whole thing is that they would require me to come into the office once a month for the next year....which would prevent me from moving when my chemo is done. So yeah I said a little prayer and talked to my veins one more time and wouldn't ya know...she got the vein. You have NO idea how happy I was.
Anyway, now that I am feeling nice and yucky...I am going to go back home and go to bed and hope that I feel well enough for dinner b/c I only ate some eggs for breakfast and skipped lunch but I am currently not in the mood to eat.
Thank goodness I am able to connect through T-Mobile's Hotspot here at the hospital. Once again...thank you to Meta <3 for getting me this laptop. I will never ever be able to thank you enough! /glmp /hugs
